Memorial Day Monday 90th Annual Wreath Presentations
Monday, May 28 – Memorial Day Monday 90th Annual Wreath Presentations to 37 veteran, police, and firefighter monuments around Missoula, organized by United Veterans Council of Missoula and Ravalli Counties. Line up at VFW Post 209 headquarters at 9:30 a.m. at 245 West Main Street in Missoula. First wreath presentation at sunrise service to be announced for place and time by RIVER and Veteran Support Network. Charter bus for honor and color guards and wreath ceremony presenters starts at Caras Park at 10 a.m. Missoula Courthouse front lawn by World War I Doughboy Statue about 10:30 a.m. Fort Missoula Military Cemetery about 10:45 a.m. Western Montana State Veterans Cemetery north of Big Sky High School on Tower Street by flagpoles about 11 a.m. Sunset Memorial Gardens from about 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Missoula City Cemetery about 1:30 p.m. St. Mary’s Annex Cemetery at about 1:45 p.m. St. Mary’s Cemetery at about 2 p.m. Rose Memorial Garden Park at about 2:30 p.m. University of Montana Iraq-Afghanistan Statue at about 3:15 p.m. All times except first wreath presentation at Caras Park are APPROXIMATE based upon traffic. Flowers for Doughboy Statue and Rose Memorial Garden Park at Vietnam Memorial donated by Benson’s Farm. Charter bus, fuel, and driver for honor and color guards and other wreath presenters donated by Beach Transportation Company. BREAKFAST at VFW Post 209 starts at 7 a.m. Wreaths provided by UVC. Donations encouraged to cover cost of breakfast.
