AN UPDATE:  The main sandbagging location has moved from S. 3rd to Fort Missoula, it will be open this week from 9am-8pm.  The Missoula Flood Support Page has put out a call for volunteers to help especially at Fort Missoula and East Missoula Fire Department.  They need people with trucks to haul pallets of sand and people to help stack sandbags.  (Flood waters have receded but are expected to be back in the major flood stage in Missoula again by the end of the week)

Residents of approximately 60 homes in the Orchard Homes area have been told by the Sheriff’s Office to evacuate and roadblocks remain in the Orchard Homes area. Residents who are under an evacuation order are not being allowed back in past the roadblocks.

Residents around the evacuation area are strongly advised to make emergency preparations to evacuate, as flood waters are expected to continue to rise.

 

An evacuation order remains in effect for the following areas:

    Tower Street, north of 3rd Street

    Kehrwald Drive

    Channel Drive

    Nancy Lou Drive

    Keck Street and Stone Street – north of Flamingo Drive

    Schmidt Road

    Off Mullan Road

 

Due to danger from flooding conditions, residents are being ordered to evacuate immediately. Residents affected by the order are asked to check in at the information trailer set up in the Wheat Montana parking lot on the corner of 3rd and Reserve.

 

Shelter Information:

    Christ the King Church, located at 1400 Gerald Ave. in Missoula is on standby.

    Seeley Lake: Mission Bible Fellowship at 3158 Highway 83 in Seeley Lake is on standby.

    Residents seeking shelter should call 1-800-272-6668.

 

Road Closures:

    Tower Street will be closed to all traffic

    Nancy Lou Drive will be closed to all traffic

    Stone Street north of Flamingo Drive will be closed to all traffic

    Schmidt Road will be closed to all traffic

Staffed Monday-Friday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Callers will hear an updated recording after hours. A public information trailer is set up at the Wheat Montana parking lot at 2520 S 3rd St W. and is staffed from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Information is posted after hours.

Missoula County Office of Emergency Management

They’re coordinating with United Way of Missoula County and there has been a flood-relief fund established to assist folks affected by the rising waters. The first grants will buy sand for sandbags. Flooding Hotline and Info Booth

For the latest updates on flooding in Missoula County, call the OEM hotline at 406-258-INFO (4636). The line is staffed from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. An information booth also is set up at Wheat Montana parking lot, 2520 S 3rd St. W.

Hazard Reporting

Safety is the top priority at all times. Make sure you are in a safe location before reporting a hazard and do not drive through or enter flooded areas. Call 9-1-1 immediately if there is an emergency situation.

 

Emergency Shelter

The American Red Cross of Montana continues to operate a flooding evacuation shelter at the Christ the King Parish, 1400 Gerald Ave., in Missoula. Residents seeking shelter should call 1-800-272-6668.

Anyone who needs emergency assistance in the event of an evacuation order should contact 911.
